The Cosmetology Instructor Program will provide you with the basic understanding and education necessary to become successful instructor and to have a positive impact on your students’ education and training. The program is designed to educate and train licensed cosmetologists to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) exam in order to become licensed Cosmetology Instructors.

The curriculum covered by this program includes three main areas of study: hair, nail and skin care. Upon graduation students will have mastered teaching cosmetology skills, professional services and business and job-related skills. You will also develop and improve your teaching skills, preparing lesson plans, demonstrating techniques, and will learn to test, evaluate and monitor student progress.

The curriculum is divided into technical instruction and the science and art of teaching. Besides receiving traditional classroom training, training is provided through practical, hands-on exercises taught by experienced instructors. This system of training provides an excellent learning experience that prepares teacher-trainee students with a solid background of practical training for instruction in cosmetology programs.

Graduates of our Cosmetology Instructor Program can go on to teach students the anatomy and physiology that relates to the job, as well as advanced aspects of hairstyling, safety and business. Students become eligible to work at state licensed schools, technical schools, or private cosmetology institutions after passing the TDLR exam.
