The Southwest Schools Pharmacy Technician Program prepares you in all aspects of the job: receiving prescriptions from doctors and hospitals, preparing prescriptions for patients, verifying insurance and prescription information and assisting the pharmacist with everyday duties. Our program provides classroom and hands-on training to get you started in an entry-level job that you can grow into a successful career.

Designed to fulfill the current and projected employment needs of the pharmaceutical industry, the curriculum covers areas like pharmacology basics, common terminology and abbreviations and adverse effects of pharmaceuticals. The Pharmacy Technician program prepares you to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s National Certification Exam. Pharmacy techs must be re-certified every two years by taking 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE).

The pharmacy technician program at SWS is offered in campuses located in Corpus Christi and San Antonio. The Council on Occupational Education (COE) accredits Southwest Schools.
